The NPORS Counterbalance Forklift Truck training course is designed to provide operators with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate forklift trucks in a variety of workplace environments. Accredited by the NPORS, this course ensures candidates are trained to recognised industry standards, helping to improve safety, efficiency, and compliance.
The training covers all key aspects of forklift operation, including pre-use inspections, controls and instrumentation, and safe manoeuvring techniques. Candidates learn how to lift, carry, and stack loads safely, as well as how to maintain stability and avoid common hazards such as overturning or load shifting. Emphasis is placed on operating in confined spaces, busy yards, and warehouse environments.
A strong focus is placed on health and safety, including understanding load capacities, working around pedestrians, and following site-specific rules. Learners are also taught how to assess risks, maintain clear visibility, and communicate effectively with others on site to prevent accidents and ensure smooth operations.
On completion, candidates must pass both a theory test and practical assessment to demonstrate their competence. Successful learners receive an NPORS operator card, confirming their ability to safely operate a counterbalance forklift truck and supporting compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.
