EUSR training helps workers gain recognised certification for the utilities and infrastructure sectors. The Energy & Utility Skills Register maintains a national register that records skills, qualifications, and compliance. Employers use EUSR certification to confirm competence and allow access to regulated sites. This training supports health and safety compliance and improves workforce standards across the UK.
EUSR SHEA Gas, Water, Power, Telecommunications & Water Hygiene
EUSR SHEA schemes provide essential safety, health, and environmental awareness training for different industries. These include SHEA Water, SHEA Gas, SHEA Power, SHEA Telecommunications, and SHEA Cross-Country Pipelines. Each scheme focuses on hazards, safe working practices, and industry-specific risks. Workers complete SHEA training to gain site access and demonstrate a strong understanding of safety procedures.
National Water Hygiene (Blue Card) training ensures workers follow strict hygiene practices when working with clean water. This course focuses on preventing contamination and protecting public health. Learners understand how to handle materials, maintain cleanliness, and follow correct procedures on water sites. Many employers require the EUSR water hygiene card before allowing access to clean water environments.
EUSR Category 1 & 2 Locate Utility Services & Implement Safe (Digging) Excavating Practices
EUSR Cat 1 and Cat 2 training supports workers involved in excavation and reinstatement on the highway. Cat 1 covers basic knowledge for operatives who work under supervision, including safe digging practices and hazard awareness. Cat 2 builds on this knowledge and allows operatives to carry out work with greater responsibility. These qualifications support compliance with street works requirements and improve on-site safety.
The safety critical course includes both theoretical and practical assessments in order to increase the knowledge required to safely detect buried utility services as well as increasing the knowledge required for those working to safely excavate and maintain holes and trenches using both hand tools and hand held power tools These qualifications are often referred to as HSG47 or Cat & Genny training and Safe Digging Practices. Our instruction goes beyond traditional ‘in-house’ sessions and is mapped to both EUSR and National Occupational Standards.
Choose EUSR training courses to improve competence, gain recognised certification, and meet industry standards. This training helps workers access sites, reduce risks, and build a safer working environment.
